Same problem
I find a picture that has no reason to be in the family catalog, but it has a yellow circle.
Cannot be removed or destroyed.

I copy the real photo in one of the folders and scan this one thinking it will replace the other one
Alas I now have two photos.

This phenomenon has happened several times; other pictures with round june were easily removed. I am unable to explain the history.

That fixes it!  I tried everything and it all works like a dream.

I have asked for a function to refresh a folder but not heard anything.  Is it possible or on the radar to do that?  As an alternative, could you provide a Filter to find all files that are missing from disk - i.e. have a yellow dot?

A 'sync tool' is being implemented now.  It's basically the last thing that remains before we have the first official release of Photo Mechanic Plus.

That is a bit different than the issues that folks were experiencing in this thread. These folks were unable to

Sync adds items to the catalog, it will never remove them. It can create a collection of files that are currently missing due to the no longer existing at the location that it was last known to be in, but Photo Mechanic doesn't know that another application deleted the file.

If you right-click on that file and choose "Remove from catalog", are you able to successfully remove the item from the catalog?
