Feature Request: Prefer XMP Sidecars Over Embedded Metadata

For some reason, I can create new topics in Support, but cannot create new topics in Feature Requests. Hence my having to make a feature request here.

I would very much like an option to prefer metadata from XMP sidecar files when available, rather than using embedded metadata. Else, an option to always use XMP sidecar files, even for file types that allow embedded metadata (DNG, TIFF, JPG, etc.).

The reason is that I, like so many others, use Capture One Pro. Capture One Pro does not embed metadata in files, making it impossible to create a two-way metadata relationship between Capture One Pro and Photo Mechanic.
