supported file formats???
« on: April 21, 2007, 01:59:48 AM »
Hi-

I am trying out PM... like much of it, but I cannot find a list of supported camera file formats anywhere???

I don't seem to be able to diplay Olympus .ORF (from an OLY C7000) or RAW files from Lumix FZ50 (the camera shoots RAW+jpg, but I generally delete the jpg since Bridge resolves the RAW fine).

These are somewhat important to me since they are the pocket cameras I carry when the SLR is in the trunk or at home.

thanks

The support varies by OS platform.  What OS do you run?

Tom,

sorry...should have included:

windows xp pro sp2

The Windows version currently does not render RAW formats.  So its support for RAW files is limited to the availability of embedded previews in various RAW formats.  Fortunately most RAW formats have some sort of preview or at least a thumbnail embedded into them.  The support for some formats is also predicated upon by having QuickTime installed on your system.

The supported formats for Windows are:
TIFF (most but not all variants)
JPEG
Nikon NEF
Canon CR2
Canon CRW
Canon TIF (usually very low resolution)
Olympus ORF
Leaf MOS
Sony ARW, SRF, SR2
Adobe DNG (as long as it has a preview in it)
EPS-TIFF
Epson ERF
Pentax PEF
Fuji RAF

And with a recent version of QuickTime installed:
AVI
MOV
MPG
MPE
MPG4
BMP
GIF
TGA
PNG
PSD
PICT

The Olympus C7000 is not supported mainly because we don't have any sample images from it. The Panasonic Lumix FZ50 is also not supported for the same reason.
