Camera Card detection not working with Big Sur
« on: December 05, 2020, 03:36:36 PM »
My System:
macOS Big Sur (version 11.0.1)
iMac 5K, 27-inch, 2017)
4.2 GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i7
Memory 32 GB 2400 MHz DDR4

I installed Big Sur on my iMac this morning and found PM+ is no longer detecting a camera card connected via USB port.

1. With PM+ open, I plugged in the camera card.
2. No reaction by PM+
3. I verified the problem was not my camera card connection by opening another app, which did recognize the connected camera card.

Thanks.

I thought this may have been corrected with installation of build 5414. It worked the first time I tried after installation, but subsequent attempts failed. Still testing.

Good to know.  I'll make sure that our support team knows about this.

Thanks,

I want to just clarify here to make sure we are on the same page. When you say that PM doesn't recognize the camera card, what do you mean by this? That the Ingest window doesn't come up automatically? Does the card not show up as a source when you open the Ingest window? Does the card not appear in the Navigator?

Can you send us a screenshot of the general section of Photo Mechanic's Preferences, which will have settings for what Photo Mechanic does when a memory card is mounted?

It’s working for me on Big Sur on my iMac however I use the PM launcher that comes in the Extras folder when you update PM+ instead of Apples Image Capture launcher, I recommend using the PM launcher, I found that the Apple Image Capture launcher a lot of times would reset itself and I would always have to go back in to Image Capture and reset it to use PM to launch the ingest dialog, since switching to the PM launcher the ingest dialog opens up every time I insert a card in my card reader.

The Ingest window does not come up automatically. CMD+G opens the Ingest window and the card shows there, allowing ingest.
