Search for gps is empty
« on: February 14, 2021, 09:58:29 AM »
I know I have about 100 files without GPS coordinates.  From the search examples it would seem logical to enter the string "gps is empty" (without the quotes), but that doesn't return anything.

Please can someone tell me the correct way to select all files that do not contain GPS coordinates?

There is currently no query that will produce images that have no GPS coordinates.

It can be done, but it takes a little time...
-Search ""  (display all photos in the catalog)
-Edit>Select photo with GPS
-Edit>Select Others (invert)

Another way is to include the gps variable {gps} in the contact sheet filename.

Preferences -> Contact Sheet -> Labels and then whatever suits:
e.g. Filename + one label e.g.  {day} {mnn3} {year4}; gps {gps}

This will put as the first label below the file name the date and indicate the presence of gps data -- 0 (none) or 1 (present)

This makes it possible to see which files have the data at a glance.

Firstly, thank you to all who have suggested a way, but I now think a better way is to carry on using Lightroom until  PMP 7 arrives.
