Filter function question
« on: April 30, 2021, 06:29:00 AM »
I am trying to filter images without a keyword on a given year but as the screenshot shows, a lot of the images have keywords when I select <none>
What am I missing?
Running PM+ Build 5724 on a Win 10 machine

Tks

Paulo,

Could you try the following and let me know if it finds images that have keywords?

Switch to the Search tab in the Organizer.  Enter the following query and press enter:

capturetime 2017 and keywords empty

Thanks,

-Kirk

No it did not, I try both methods and here are the results, filtering brings up pictures with keywords, searching does not.

Could I have you turn on Catalog debug logging and try again, please?  From the Help menu, choose "Edit Debug Settings..." and find the item titled CATALOG_DEBUG_LOGGING and set its checkbox.  Then click the Close button.  Then restart Photo Mechanic Plus and reproduce the problem.  From the Help menu choose "Reveal Support Data..." and moments later a Windows Explorer window will come forward with the zipped log file selected.  Use the 'Attachments and other options' link when you're composing your reply to this message and there you'll be able to upload your zipped PM log file.

NOTE: you'll have to get the problem to happen again now that you've enabled logging.

Thanks,

-Kirk

Thanks Kirk,

here is the Log file.

This time I look further down the contact sheet and found images with keywords on both occasions and the number of files do not match.

Thanks for taking the time to help me again!

Thanks for the log.

Did the image "_PB39381.NEF" get its metadata changed outside of Photo Mechanic Plus?  If so, then if the image previously had no keywords, it would match your query.  But when the image is presented, the metadata change is discovered and the metadata from the changed file will appear in the Metadata Info dialog (it should also cause the catalog to be updated.)

I see from the log that metadata changes are being integrated into the catalog for that file.

Yes, I am looking for empty keywords fields so I can find those images in my Lightroom catalog and Save the metadata to the file, so PM can see it. I guess I thought it would be instantaneous...

Is there a way to force an update? How do I check this, do I have to quit and reopen PM? Or I need to give it time for the process to complete before I can see the changes in my queries?

Thanks again!

You need to do a Full Sync with the Catalog Sync command on the Catalog menu.
