Using R5724_6ffa16f6 with images with the letter å (a-ring) in a folder name gives odd behavior. When running a sync, it will add all images in those folders a second time. They are now shown twice, with identical names. Selecting all images in the folder and performing a remove only removes one copy
Reverting to 5560 and performing another sync gives an error.
Restarting shows that a reintegration is required.
After reintegration it is back to normal again.
See attached images and log files for details

best regards,
Hans-Jørgen

Could I have you try this build with a specific test?

https://www.camerabits.com/download/PhotoMechanicPlusR5806_21a66800.dmg

The test would be to create a new catalog, then use Scan to Catalog and choose only the "/Users/hjb/Foto/Natur/Måker" folder as the source.  Then use Catalog Sync (Full).  Do the photos appear twice?

Thanks,

-Kirk

Testing with R5806_21a66800 was successful. All images picked up at scan to catalog, all identified as already in catalog during sync. So they did not appear twice.

However, all my existing catalogs were shown as requiering maintenance, was that to be expected? I did not touch them, I simply deleted my test catalog, quit PMP, reinstalled 5560, and all was back to normal again.

Yes, that's to be expected with the new build.

Thanks for confirming that things have improved.  That build is the current release candidate, undergoing testing right now.  It will likely be released as-is by the end of the week or early next week.

Let me know if there is any further testing you would like me to do to ensure the quality of the released version. (And yes, I do know the risk of running unreleased software, and the importance of taking regular backups).

Hans-Jørgen,

It'd be great if you could backup your "Natur" catalog, reinstall the release candidate build, perform the requested maintenance on it, and then try the Catalog Sync you did before and see if it gets duplicates again.  You only need to backup the catalog.pmdb file in the "Natur" catalog folder.  The proxies folder should be unaffected.

Thanks,

-Kirk

The maintenance required was just update version, and I did run that. Catalog sync did create duplicates again.

I reinstalled 5560, and copied the "Natur" catalog back as well (This is just a small catalog, so I had backed it all up, not only the catalog.pmdb).
Now it did require reintegration! After reintegration, all was back to normal. I quit PMP, and copied my catalog backup back once  more, and this time it did not require reintegration. So apparently there are other files involved here, not only the catalog files. (caching? preference files?)

Yes, there is a separate database that tracks paths.

If you select all of the images in the "Måker" folder with build 5560 and remove them, are they all removed?  If so, if you then switch to the 5806 build and add the images back in and follow with a Catalog Sync, do you now only have one set of images?

If you still have that backup of your "Natur" catalog, could you share it with us?  Or if you don't have that anymore, back it up again before you try the remove with 5560 and then share it with us if possible.

Removing all images in the "Måker" folder in 5560 and then adding them back and syncing using 5806 worked perfectly, no duplicates created.

I still have the backup, and I can certainly share it with you.
catalog.pmdb is only 18.4 MB, but the proxies part is 474.7 MB. Zipped copy is 481.2 MB. Do you want it all? How do you want me to transfer it ?

Only the catalog.pmdb file is required.  You can use some cloud-based file sharing service and get me a link, or if you can use a FTP client, I can get you our server info and you can upload it directly (just be sure to zip it up and give it a descriptive name first.)

Thanks,

-Kirk

Renamed file to Natur_catalog.pmdb, zipped it into Natur_catalog.zip. (Let me know if the names are not OK)
Pls get me the server info, and I will upload to your FTP server.
