PM Plus: Query for unavailable items
« on: May 30, 2021, 02:45:58 AM »
I have renamed some directories and their items are still showing up in the catalog but are unavailable: "This file is not locally available" While this is explainable and desired, I would like to query for all unavailable items and remove them from the catalog. How could I do that?

Perhaps not what you ask for, but you may find perhaps find useful info in the thread http://forums.camerabits.com/index.php?topic=13575.0

Use Catalog Sync (in Full Sync mode) and be sure to set the "Files missing from last known location on disk" checkbox in the "Automatic Collections to Create" section.  Any images that cannot be found will be added to a Collection for that catalog that you can use to view all of the missing items.  Removing them is as simple as selecting them all (File->Select All) and then choosing "Remove Selected Items" from the Catalog menu.

Thanks both, for your replies. Both solutions work, and although the solution suggested by Kirk is most likely the best, it's also the most time-consuming...

Kirk, I'm new to PM Plus, and when I chose Remove Selected Items, the dialog box was a bit unclear, giving me this choice: "Choose Remove if you want to keep the item but do not want it listed in the catalog. Choose Delete item if you also want to delete it permanently." I know you've said in several places that my photos are never removed, but this didn't give me much comfort the first time I tried it, so I chose Remove. But I take it that Remove means that it's still in the database, but hidden, while Delete actually deletes the database entry. Is this correct?

The database does not have hidden items. You either remove the image from the database, or you remove the image from the database and delete the source file (and its metadata sidecar file if it has one), permanently.
