little window confusion with two monitors
« on: June 12, 2021, 08:12:32 AM »
Hello camera bits,

there is a little window "confusion" working on Photo Mechanic Plus with two monitors:

The main window of PM is on monitor 1.
If you click on the little "snapshot" icon, the little popup window will appear alone in the monitor 2.
See attached screenshot.
Some additional windows like all the catalog windows from the catalog menu will appear on the second screen. The preference window however does not.
This is not bad, just a little irritating.

Best regards

Thomas

I am using PM build 5820 on a windows machine with Windows 10 21H1 build 19043.1052

FYI, I use a window manager app (eg. RectangleApp.com for macOS), which makes it very easy to move any active window to another screen, with a single keyboard shortcut.

Which snapshot window in particular are you clicking on that exhibits this behavior?

Hi Kirk,

they are all in the Organizer window: the Search, Filter and Active Catalogs Snapshots.

The snapshots in the Preferences Window, Metadata Template are displayed correct.

It seems that all snapshots marked with a lightning symbol are displayed correctly, while those with a circle symbol are displayed incorrectly.

All subwindows from the Catalog Menu for example (Scan to Catalog, Catalog Sync, Catalog Management ...) are displayed at default on the second screen.
Selecting now on these windows on the second screen the circled snapshot option, they are invisible. I have to move the window to the first screen, to have them displayed (on the second screen).

Best regards
Thomas

Thanks for the additional info.  This may be a hard one to fix.  But we will look into it.

Hi Kirk,

it is nothing serious now, if you know it you can handle it well. It is just sometimes long "mouse paths"  ;)

Can you take a screen grab of the Displays control panel showing the layout of your displays, and post it here please?  Use the 'Attachments and other options' link when you're composing your reply to this message and there you'll be able to upload your JPEG format screenshot.

Thanks,

-Kirk

Hello Kirk,

here is the screen grab of the display layout.
The main display 1 has 3840 x 2160 px with the Windows 10 scale of 250%, the number 2 has 1920 x 1200 and 100% scale.

Best regards
Thomas
