Crop for "Export" (as web gallery) and "Extract JPEG"
« on: April 29, 2007, 02:25:59 PM »
I really love how fast PM can build wonderful web galleries right from my RAW files (NEFs).
Version 4.5 rocks even more!

The only thing I am missing is that crops are included. To have some cropped images in a web gallery I need to

- get a JPEG (either with other software or by extracting the JPEG - "Save as" doesn't work since the colors don't look as good then)
- crop the JPEG
- get it back into the Contact Sheet
- make sure that the original NEF will not be selected
- generate the gallery

It would be so much faster if the Export function had "Apply cropping" incorporated.

Also for the "Extract JPEG Previews" function "Apply cropping" would be nice!!

Thanks for listening, PM is fabulous!

There *is* an "Apply crop" checkbox below the JPEG Quality slider.

There *is* an "Apply crop" checkbox below the JPEG Quality slider.

But there is no quality slider on the extract embedded JPG screen, and it is greyed out (cannot be used) when selecting RAW and trying to save as or extract.

So let's forget the web generation which does offer the apply crop (I have to use different web generation because in web template PM doesn't offer what I need). I would like to have my crops from my RAWs with as few steps as possible. PM really should allow me to have my crop on my extracted JPGs.
Working on Mac, OSX, iOS and with some Canons.
Allways shooting RAW.

Has this ever been considered as an option?

I just add this post to be easyer to find it nex time:

A similar problem emerged in an other topic (see below) and Kirk came up with an export script solving the problem almost entirely and he promissed to have a full solution in version 4.6
