Monterey and JPGs
« on: November 11, 2021, 11:15:34 AM »
We have a problem updating to MacO's Monterey with Photo Mechanic (PM).
If you record both NEF and JPG files on the same card with a Nikon D5 XQD and Ingest or copy the files through PM then the files (NEF and JPGs) can not be read by Photoshop.
After trying different methods, it turns out that it is the JPG files that are the problem. NEF files alone on the card - no problems. We have also tested JPG only on the XQD card and these can not be opened in Photoshop either. Directly from the XQD card into Photoshop - no problems and when we try to open the files ones again in PS again, they can be opened.
For information: MacO's Monterey in Danish, Photoshop 2022 and Camera Raw 14 latest version and we have tried different versions of PM with the same result.
We are photojournalist and use JPGs for instant photos and deadline assignments and PM is just the program that over and over again ensures we work efficiently and always reach very demanding deadlines.
Are there others who have experienced similar or?

Can you post one of the JPEGs straight from the card, and one that has been Ingested by Photo Mechanic, please?  Use the 'Attachments and other options' link when you're composing your reply to this message and there you'll be able to upload your files.

Thanks,

-Kirk

Sorry for the delay, but we have had local elections in Denmark. The file that has PM in file name is Ingested - hope you can use them?

Both of your sample JPEG images open fine for me on macOS Mojave with Photoshop version 22.5.2.  I suspect that you may have a permissions problem that is preventing Photoshop from opening the file.
