Hello,
This has been in issue for a few years, but just haven’t voiced it.
In an ongoing tethered shoot, PM slows to almost a standstill trying to bring in new images from the camera using Live Ingest. With clients waiting to see their shots, this is a huge bottleneck. New images aren’t displayed in the main window for a very long time.
If there are 100 or less images in the receiving folder, things are fine thumbs arrive almost instantly. More than 100-ish and the slowdown becomes significant. It can take 4 minutes for new images from the camera to show up in the receiving folder. Hitting the ‘/‘ key to refresh multiple times doesn’t help, no thumbnails show up for a long time.
If I move the majority of images in the target folder to a separate folder, performance instantly improves.
The images are on the computer and are in the folder when looking at File Explorer, and also confirmed by looking at the last shot in Nikon’s thumb with the capture app.
Just that PM doesn’t show it.
Suggestions please.
Doesn’t matter which camera body I’m using.
Nikon D4s (USB 2)
Nikon d850 (USB 3)
Nikon Capture Control (doesn’t matter which version).
USB cables from TetherTools; both with a powered repeater cable and w/o the repeater.
Dell laptop 3 years old with 16 gig
Windows 10, current version
PM6 version doesn’t matter. Also true on earlier versions of PM5
All disks on the laptop are SSD, lots of room so no efforts needed by Windows to “find space”.
Thanks!
