searchable fields for internal use
« on: February 16, 2022, 02:33:43 PM »
I supply a danish photo bureau with pictures, as well as other bureaus.
But how to keep track of what agencies the photo is uploaded to? I could of course write it in decriptions  or keyword fields - but the contents of those fields goes with the photo to the agency.
It would be nice, if there was one or more searchable fields for "personal use" (internal use) only. Then I could write the agency names in a such a fields, and later search for photos uploadet to that agency.
Or is there another way of dealing with this?

If the metadata for this internal use only field is stored with the image, then the recipient will have it too.  Not all software/systems may display it, but it will still be there.

You can keep using some unused field (like Object Name, or Edit Status, or something else of your choice) and then apply a Metadata (IPTC) Template to clear that field on upload.  Your original will still have it, and the uploaded image will not.  And this method already works today without us having to add a custom field management facility.
