Scan to Catalog XMP or EMBEDDED?

Hi, I couldn't find any info about this topic yet. Probably somebody can help.

I have several file types. Usually (in the past) I shot most of my pictures in JPG. In Media Pro I have embedded all meta data into the files, even into RAW files. After, when switched to Lightroom, I have written XMP for the RAW files. Just checked if I want to exchange meta data from within Capture One it will write XMP for all file types.

So my question is. When I "Scan to Catalog" which meta data will be primarily used? The embedded meta data, or meta data from XMP files?
Can I select which? (like in Capture One)

The modification time of the file and the XMP sidecar are checked.  The metadata stored in the newest file is used.  Note: if the image file type is one that standards say should always have embedded metadata, XMP sidecars are ignored.  Examples of such types are: JPEG, TIFF, DNG, PSD, and PNG.

Can I select which? (like in Capture One)
