Filter and Browse
« on: July 15, 2022, 07:09:57 PM »
I`m trying to refine a search and I'm not able to do what I want and I'm pretty sure it must be possible.

In the Browse section of the Catalog, let's say I'm browsing my pictures with the Folder Path, then I'm looking at pictures from one folder and I would like to only view Sony ARW files from that folder for example. So my folder is selected under Folder Path, if I control click on Sony ARW under file type then both attributes are selected but instead of showing Sony ARW files from my selected folder I see ALL Sony ARW from my catalog AS WELL as pictures from my Folder Path location.

Is there any way to achieve what I want? Or is that behaviour only possible under Filter?
If so, is there a way to swtich from Browse to Filter without having to browse from scratch again from the Filter / Folder path?
Thanks

Hello

Here is a test that works:
I choose a folder with Browse and I limit the search to this folder (drop-down menu of search)
This folder contains Sony and Leica pictures; to see only the Leica ones I searched in search :
byline caption "Leica"
It worked because Leica is in caption

I continue my tests and discover problems with the Sony photos.
When I search for Sony caption, I get the photos of my 6500 but not those of the A7RM3. For the latter I have to search for A7RM3, so to get all my Sony's I need
Sony or 7RM3 caption
This is inconsistent and inexplicable since caption includes :
  ILCE-6500
     Sony FE 24-105mm F4 G OSS (SEL24105G)
Or
    ILCE-7RM3
     Sony FE 24-105mm F4 G OSS (SEL24105G)
(I only have Sony lenses so the Sony search should be enough)

Let's wait for Kirk!

Use the Filter system.  It narrows results as you add criteria.  Browse always increases results when you pick more items.
