Not renaming Hasselblad X2D files on import

Photo mechanic isn’t renaming my Hasselblad X2D files on import

It's Hasselblad's medium format camera (now the 3rd generation).  The RAW file types are 3FR.  Would you consider supporting that in the future?

Hi cmichel,

It is not likely that the 'Blad files will be supported in the near future.  If you convert the files to DNG using the free Adobe DNG Converter (being sure to use full-size previews) then you could work with them in Photo Mechanic.  I tried it with some sample files and they worked well that way.

Please contact the Hasselblad folks and request that they put a usable JPEG preview in the files that their cameras produce.  If the files were to have previews in them then we could support their file format.

Hi folks, wanted to add a thought into the conversation ... I couldn't care less about the preview image from Blad ... reason being that I would like to get the metadata and renaming for my footage - no matter what - consistently applied to the footage utiiizing the same workflow -> PM. Right now that is not possible with Blad files ... That situation is painful to me as i do have to go through a different piece of workflow for the Blad files. To my understanding, this all has nothing to with preview images in the raw Blad files at all. If you think about that, it may make more sense to support at least the "metadata" portion for the Blad files ... it would help a lot ... Tx, O.
