Strategy in case of migration to a new NAS

I plan to move my pictures from a old NAS to a new NAS. 

What is the recommendedv method in this frame to keep the PM+ catalog working  ?

How do you mount your NAS on your system?  Will the new NAS show up the same as the old NAS?

It will be mounted as a separate Nas. The old one will remain in place.

Will the same directory layout exist at some location on the new NAS?

Yes. The pictures will be  stored in the same directory structure. Only change should be the driver name (e.a. F: for instance ipo D:)

OK, good.  As long as everything gets copied over (including the .pmshare files that may be hidden on your system), then in the Browse tab of the Organizer, in the Folder Path subtree, find the root path on the old NAS, right-click on it and choose "Update Folder Location..." and then choose that same folder on the new NAS.

That should do it.

I'm thinking about using a NAS for my pictures. IIRC it was mentioned that PM+ is not (yet) optimised for working with NAS. I'd like to know about your experience with your setup. Thanks!

The only way to get really fast cataloging on a NAS is to actually run a catalog server on the NAS itself, where the viewer (PM Plus) is a client.  Using the NAS as a disk will never be fast enough.  It's not a simple matter of optimizing read patterns on files.

The update Folder location from the old NAS to the new NAS worked fine.

I have 2 additionnal questions

1) is there a way to rename the top drive letter ?  The old NAS was under W: the new one is under Z:
2) is there any report to find to where each folder is linked to.  Iwould to check that I did miss one durint the  "update Folder location" process

No.  If you browse one of the folders on the "W:" drive, and click on one of the images, what does the path in the status bar at the bottom of the window show?

No, there is no such report available.
