collections Backup
« on: January 22, 2023, 10:37:54 AM »
I will be moving to PM6+ full time now that I am no longer calling myself a C1P user. Today I started with 'Collections' and slowly figuring out how to create them.  Before I go through and create a few of these, how are they backed up ? I am looking at a new MBP this summer but want to ensure what I have now in PM6+ will be on the new MBP and don't have to rebuild the 'Collections' .

The Catalog is easy as I know where it's stored.

Collections are stored in your catalogs.

I had to change the name of the top file folder to start a new series for 2026.

Photo_Archive_2001-2019
Photo_Archive_2020-2025
Photo_Current_2026

By changing the names I had to re-sync the catalog. The folder structure underlying did not change, just the main folder name did. I have since lost all the Collections I painstackingly assembled. Is there a better way to organize other than file folder structure similar files ? Example, reptiles were grouped into a collection as every time I go away I end up with pics of reptiles but the folder structure is by the event>date>place.

I do have PM6 Plus, beside Colelctions which are not working for me anything else ? I don't use LrC, only COP sessions.

This page explains the process for telling the catalog that a folder name has changed: https://camerabits.freshdesk.com/support/solutions/articles/48001164434-updating-the-catalog-location-of-externally-moved-folders

Doing that would have retained the items that had been added to collections.

Ya, that did nothing.
