Catalogue Info missing
« on: March 29, 2023, 03:24:03 AM »
I was trying to remove an image from a catalogue and suddenly the 'catalogue info' tab just disappeared.

Any thoughts please, is it a bug?

I have attached a screenshot of the image next to the problem image and you'll see 8 rows down the catalogue info tab is there.

Thanks
Simon.

Is it at all possible that the image you are clicking on just isn't part of a catalog (in other words, what color is the catalog status indicator circle to the right of the file name)?

I'd like to see your Photo Mechanic log.  In Photo Mechanic Plus go to the Help menu and choose "Reveal Support Data..." and moments later a Finder window will come forward with the zipped log file selected.  Use the 'Attachments and other options' link when you're composing your reply to this message and there you'll be able to upload your zipped PM log file.

Thanks,

-Kirk

No. We want the PM_log.zip file that it brings you to when you click "Reveal Support Data". Drag that to your desktop so you can find it easily and then click "Attachments and other options" when composing your reply and select the file that you put on your desktop.

Thanks, Simon.

I see a number of problems in your logs relating to catalogs not being found.  If you open the Catalog Management window from the Catalog menu, what does it look like?  Please take a screenshot in JPEG format and attach it to your reply.

Use the 'Attachments and other options' link when you're composing your reply to this message and there you'll be able to upload your JPEG format screenshot.

Thanks,

-Kirk

Well, as you can see from the attachment the catalogue info has returned and the image is in the correct catalogue now.

I have done nothing at all, so no idea what went wrong.

Thanks
Simon.

Simon,

For a period of time some of your catalogs could not be accessed/opened.  One of them is entirely missing (Default Catalog), which I'm guessing you deleted in the Finder and not from within the Catalog Management window.  I suggest that you clear that condition by clicking on the triangle to the left of it.  Then use the Forget button to remove it from the Local Catalogs list.

Does your "General Photography " disk sometimes become unavailable?  On the 27th and 28th, all of the catalogs on that disk were unable to be opened.

Kirk,

General Photography has been fine, they are on two separate ext. hard drives.  I have a suspicion the Sports hd is playing up.  I'm in the process of doing another back up.

I've carried out a Mac disk utility first aid on it and it seems fine.
Something else has just started happening, in that I can't start the Mac with the Sports hd plugged in, I have to disconnect it each time.

Yeah I'll delete the default catalogue.

Thanks for your help.
Simon.
