Photo mechanic 6 & macOS Ventura. Stable or not?
« on: May 05, 2023, 10:21:03 AM »
Hi

I just wondered how stable PM6 is with Ventura on an M1 MacbookPro. I'm using Monterey at the moment but wonder if it's worth upgrading or, staying as I am.

Thanks in advance

There were some performance issues with older builds of Photo Mechanic 6 and Photo Mechanic Plus around the time that Ventura was released, which seemed to be a combination of how Photo Mechanic was drawing images to the screen and issues introduced by the new OS. We have since then released a build that corrects this issue. Any lingering performance issues since then have generally been a result of settings or hardware bottlenecks.

Here's a longer thread on the topic if you are interested in further reading but pretty much if you are up to date on both MacOS and the latest build of Photo Mechanic, you should be good to go.

I've been running PM6 on Ventura for over five months now with no issues.
