I can't seem to figure out how I can filter files that have successfully been uploaded over the course of an event.

I notice there is a small green square in the top left of the contact screen image but for some reason that disappears? Why?

Are you closing the Contact Sheet? The upload status icons should only disappear when the contact sheet has been closed, as far as I know.

Are you closing the Contact Sheet? The upload status icons should only disappear when the contact sheet has been closed, as far as I know.
No, I'm not, but even if I was it would be nice to revisit events and be able to filter those images I had already uploaded. Why does that green square need to disappear at all?

Also, if I'm uploading directly from the Metadata (IPTC) Info screen there is no automatic tagging after a [successful] upload.

There is an option in the uploader to save a copy of transmitted photos to a folder.

I have this setup for each client/server connection I have saved so I can easily check what has been sent if I accidentally close the contact sheet and lose the green squares.

I have that too but it's not the same. Having to manually match up file names to determine what has been uploaded is time consuming.

So, there's a few things to address here, but I think the thing to address first is the visual indicator. The little green square that shows as you upload the file should remain there while the Contact Sheet is open. The only way I know of to make this disappear while the Contact Sheet remains open is to go to Finder or Windows explorer (or some other application) and rename the file itself. If you can provide more details about what circumstances cause the indicator to disappear for you, that would be helpful. If you aren't sure, I would be happy to screenshare with you to determine if there is a bug or something that you can avoid doing to make this indicator persist.

And then to tack on to what Kevin said, there is an option in the "edit" menu that I wanted to make sure you are aware of: you can choose "Select Transferred" to select any items on the contact sheet that have been successfully uploaded. From there you can use color labels, tags, star ratings or the metadata template to add any kind of information you want to the uploaded images. There's still a few steps to make that happen but I'd say its much simpler than matching up the originals files with what ends up in a folder of copies of the uploaded files. Would this suit your needs?

Thanks for the feedback - unfortunately the select transferred doesn't seem to work, at least for the the archived folders I've tested. Pity - it might have been useful.

No.  The problem is that it cannot be done reliably.  Also, depending on your upload settings, the image that shows the status is not the image that is sent.  Scaling/metadata/watermarking/changing quality all would cause the image received to differ from the image sent.

I can enumerate all of the issues that I know of if you'd like for me to that, but the thread from a few years ago did not list them all.

Thanks but there's no need to list the reasons. You made it clear that you don't want to make the tag permanent, not that you can't.

Joe,

We don't want to make it permanent.  You can always select the successfully uploaded files (there's a command in the File menu) and then add some sort of info that means something to you via the IPTC Stationery Pad.

We can't make it permanent and have it work in a great number of cases.  This deficiency is what keeps us from implementing permanent tracking of this information.

If it doesn't work all of the time but just some of the time, then the usefulness of the feature decreases and our support costs will increase.

We don't make features like that.
