Hi,

I am trying the program and I have to rename a lot. When I press (apple) + M it hides instead of renaming. When I choose rename through the menu bar it works. What can I do?

Hilmar,

What OS version are you running?
What kind of keyboard (language) do you have?
What version of Photo Mechanic are you running?

I haven't seen that layout before, but it sounds like your keyboard is putting out Command-H instead of Command-M.

According to apple:

http://developer.apple.com/documentation/UserExperience/Conceptual/OSXHIGuidelines/XHIGKeyboardShortcuts/chapter_20_section_1.html

(apple)+m = minimize to dock

That is just a guideline after all.  We have been using the Command-M keyboard shortcut since well before there was a Mac OS X or a Dock.  Does your Window->Minimize menu item have a Command-M shortcut on it?  Mine doesn't.  Command-M appears next to the Rename Photos menu item.

It does not have a shortcut next to it.

I did something to fix this. I added a keyboard shortcut through system preferances/keyboard and made (apple)+1 a new shortcut for rename. It works but I would like to have the original one working.

One other question.

When renaming is it possible to have the sequence reset itself to zero when using rename. I always get the latest sequence when renaming.

Please check to see if you somehow have Command-M mapped to do something as well...

Automatically?  No.  But you can hold down the Option key and the Set Sequence button will change to Reset Sequence, such that if you click on it, your sequence number will reset.
