I've noticed that when I upload files to Dropbox, it creates a folder that I can't share directly with others, except by sending them a link. Furthermore, it seems that the link only provides view-only access, and I can't turn it into a shared folder with edit access. Am I overlooking something, or is there a way to change the sharing settings that I'm not aware of?

Changing the folder permissions on Dropbox isn't possible in the current build of Photo Mechanic.

When we submitted our API key request for full Dropbox access it was declined, so the path and permissions you can set on folders created by Photo Mechanic is very limited. Because of this we did not add controls for setting folder permissions at that time.

I'm not sure if this has changed since our initial API key request. I will have to look into this further.

Just to add on to what Jerry said, since dropbox will just sync anything that you add to it's folder, and as far as I know you can use any of the other methods in Photo Mechanic for moving or copying files to get them into Dropbox. So if you select your images and drag them a Dropbox synced folder in the Navigator, Dropbox will upload the files (Note: if you are on a Mac and Dropbox has forced you to move its folder to ~/Library, you won't be able to get to it from the Navigator, but you can add it to Photo Mechanic's Favorites and accomplish the same thing), and this would get around the fact that we can't upload to anything other than the Dropbox/Apps/Photo Mechanic Uploads folder.

Hope that helps.
