Search My Mac issues
« on: September 03, 2023, 12:32:32 PM »
I have relied on the 'Search my Mac' function through PM5. I recently upgraded to PM6, and now I am having some issues with it. In the past I could find files with a search word located in the filename, caption, keywords, etc. This was working in PM6 as well, until recently. Now it will only locate files base on data in the Keywords field, but not if the search data is located anywhere else. I seldom add keywords, as I could always find files by using search words found in the caption field (for example.)
is there a preference setting that might have been changed? What am I missing?

I have Photo Mechanic Version 6.0, build 6784 (409cf99)
Mac OS Ventura 13.5
MacBook Pro

The "Search My Mac" option in Photo Mechanic on MacOS makes use of MacOS Spotlight Search.

If you use Spotlight Search in Finder or by using the Command-Space key keyboard shortcut, is Spotlight able to search for and return files based on filename or other metadata fields?

If Spotlight is not returning results as expected, you may need to re-index it. The following Apple article has information on how to do so: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201716

Thank you very much! That did it.
