PM crashing

PM 6 on Mac 12.6.1

The last few days PM has been slow, and today whenever I try to pull a file to the trash, or type command-delete the beach ball comes up, turns interminably, and locks me out of doing anything else on my Mac

I deleted the program, and reinstalled, behavior persists.

Suggestions?
