File error. Contact sheet rescan needed

Me again but hopefully this’ll be my last question.
I’ve done a forum search but unfortunately this hasn’t helped.
Once i have completed a set of photos within a folder I move the folder from my editing drive over to my big archive raid array. I do this by holding shift and then dragging the folder to the location I wish it move to. (I use shift as without it PM copies the folder instead of moves it).
However, even though the move is successful and the system is supposed to keep track of the files as they move for the benefit of the catalog, I always without fail end up with the contact sheet for the photos turning black and saying ‘file error. Contact sheet rescan needed’. I use the rescan and refresh options on the view menu to no avail. The green dots disappears completely too.  The only way I have found to fix this is to quit and relaunch. Works every time but am I missing a simple way to rescan and make this work. Or would you recommend moving the folder a different way if such a way exists.

What you've described is unclear to me.  You're dragging a folder in the Navigator or Favorites in PM Plus to where?  Another folder in the Favorites or Navigator in PM Plus?  Another Or outside to another application like Windows Explorer (on Windows) or Finder (macOS) ?  If you're dragging outside of PM Plus, then PM Plus isn't doing the copy/move operation and is unaware of the new location.

I think you may be better off only adding your items to your catalog once they have been moved to their final destination.

I think your solution is the right one and I had been doing it that way to be honest but only recently started adding them before the move.

Just to clarify. I mainly use the favourites tab. I have my ‘to be processed’ folder which contains individual folders per shoot added there plus I have my 2024 folder added there too which is on a completely different drive to the ‘to be processed’ folders. every folder that is done gets moved to the 2024 folder. I hold shift and drag the finished shoot folder from my ‘to be processed’ folder to the 2024 folder all within the favourites tab.  I hold shift as this makes it a move command. I found if I don’t hold shift it copies the folder only instead of move it.

It would be nice to have everything all together in the one big drive but I chose to have all my unedited photos and videos on a super fast SSD to make browsing, editing and 4k video editing as smooth as possible.

As you say, I think waiting until the folder is complete, moving it and then adding to the catalog is the better way.
