File size of printed contact sheet (MAC)
« on: May 29, 2024, 01:28:03 AM »
Hi, I have questions about the file size of printed contact sheets.
On my mac the file size is a lot bigger then it used to be on my Windows pc.
Also If i print a contact sheet using Bridge and use similar settings:

 61 photos, 150 DPI, 3 rows, 2 columns.

Bridge file size = 16,6 MB
PM file size  = 80,8 MB
am I missing something?

Hi there kbuijte,

Photo Mechanic sends the content to the Operating System to handle printing or creating the PDF. (Bridge skips right to an Adobe engine)  In general, macOS seems to default to creating max-resolution PDFs from whatever app the content comes from. One thing you might try in macOS is this: In the OS dialog that comes up, if you click the small arrow on the PDF button, you can choose to create an Adobe PDF which will give you a lot more control over the PDF creation. For example, there is a "Smallest file size" option in the subsequent dialog.

I hope this helps.
