External hard drive

I have had 2 external hard drives hooked up to P/M 6 for ages allowing me to open up images from any one into Nikon Studio, Affinity by hitting the E key. One of them has stopped doing this. I did a first aid on the hard drive and that didn't help. When I open up the hard drive on my desktop and select a folder of images, click on any image and I can open it up in Nikon Studio or Affinity.

It looks like the hard drive and P/M 6 are not talking to each other.

Any suggestions?
