PM hanging when completing any task. Continual spinning colored ball.

I'm using Photo Mechanic Version 6.0, build 7212 (90865b3) on a 2024 MacMini 16gb machine. Whenever I load a gallery, switch between galleries, move images etc. the program hangs up and I get the spinning ball seemingly for almost a minute or more. I checked Activity Monitor and nothing amiss there.
Your suggestions please.
