Clean up keyword hierarchies
« on: October 26, 2024, 01:02:14 PM »
I have hierarchical keywords from another product that are generally unusable in PM6+ due to repetitive hierarchies. For example, this photo shows:

Orig, 2024, Berwick, England, Miscellaneous | Orig, Years | 2024, Places | Europe | United Kingdom | England | Berwick, Places | Europe | United Kingdom | England

What I WANT to show is each UNIQUE field such as: Orig, 2024, Berwick, England etc as a flat list without repeating Orig, Europe, United Kingdom and England. I've never been successful with nested or hierarchal keywords.

Is there any hope short of tedious manual item by item edits?

thanks

Using find and replace as set up in my attached screenshot, the keyword string that you posted into this:

Orig, 2024, Berwick, England, Miscellaneous, Years, Places, Europe, United Kingdom

The data structure that keywords are stored in do not allow for duplicates, so replacing the pipe with a comma results in duplicates being removed.

Thank you. I will try this shortly. I am unclear on how to apply this globally (approx 60k photos) though.
the example shown would seem to apply to the selected photo in question but since most photos will have a different combination of keywords, I am a bit confused.

thanks

Actually, it works perfectly. Not as complicated as it seemed at first.

Thanks again mucho!
