Weird "Any Vision" keyword
« on: November 08, 2024, 04:51:34 AM »
Bumped into something strange this AM.  I shot a game this week and processed it through my normal PM - Lightroom Classic - Smugmug workflow.  When I went into Smugmug this AM, I noticed that the keywords "Any Vision" were on the files.  I cannot see those keywords in Lightroom, but I can see them in PM.

Any idea where they came from?  I don't own Any Vision software -- I'm only using PM (the new UB version - Photo Mechanic Version 2024.10, build 8173 (21745c6), Classic and occasionally Photoshop.

Example attached.

Thanks.

Just to add to my own question.  Smugmug was pretty adamant that they don't add keywords to customers files.  I also looked at a few images that were ingested & culled via PM, processed via LR, but NOT uploaded to Smugmug.  The "Any Vision" keywords were also present on those files.

Photo Mechanic doesn't add keywords unless you have it do an operation that adds keywords. I assume the same is true for Lightroom.

Format a memory card, take an image with your camera and then try to reproduce the issue. Check the metadata after every step.  At what point in the process does the keyword show up?

It looks like you applied a structured (hierarchical) keyword at some point in your workflow.  "Any Vision | Labels | Championship". Perhaps you wanted to apply just Championship, but the hierarchical path to Championship was applied.  Photo Mechanic and Lightroom both have the ability to apply hierarchical keywords.

I was just able to replicate it.  I'll give a ring.

Kirk -

You're the winner.

I was applying the word "Championship" as part of my ingest.  When I passed my selects into Lightroom, that software saw the word "championship" and applied a number of hierarchical keywords -- including the phrase "Any Vision."  BUT -- in order to see those additional keywords,  you have to change the Keyword dropdown from "Enter Keywords" (the default) to "Keywords & Containing Keywords."  So while I wasn't actually inputing any keywords in LR and couldn't see any additional keywords in LR, it was LR behind the scenes making the changes.

Thanks for the clue.
