Star ratings on EOS R5 mk ii does not import to PM
« on: November 11, 2024, 01:09:19 PM »
The star ratings I tag on the Canon EOS R5 mk ii are not imported to PM. Is it me, PM or Canon that is the problem?

I had no issues with the R5.

Could you share an image from the R5 Mk II so we can have a look at its metadata?  Use the 'Attachments and other options' link when you're composing your reply to this message and there you'll be able to upload your sample file.

Thanks,

Files attached. I write Raw-files to the CFexpress card and JPG-files to the SD-card as a backup. I import the Raw-files to PM.

Thanks.  The JPEG has a rating of one (1) and the CR3 has a rating of zero (0).

After Ingest, are the two images being paired when you view them in the contact sheet (thumbnail grid) ?

I would expect it to show a rating of one for the pair if you're using the defaults for your metadata settings (you can choose if the metadata is to come from the JPEG or the RAW file in a pair.)

If you separate the images they should have different ratings.  When I pair your images up, I see a rating of 1 star and when I separate them, I see 0 stars for the CR3 and 1 star for the JPEG.

Understood, thanks. However, I have never before imported both cards, only the CFexpress with the raw-files and they have included the star ratings from the R5.

So, I'm guessing it's a firmware issue and that Canon does not yet have a function for writing star ratings to both files/cards, but only the JPGs/SD-card.
