Adding Persons Shown for a group of selected photos

I see how you can write keywords for a group of selected photos how can the same type of thing be performed for other fields like "persons shown"?  I have a whole group of selected photos that I want all to tag with the same set of names.

I am sure there is a simple method.

I believe this is accomplished the same was as for keywords - select multiple photos, open the metadata template (CMD+I on Mac), type something in Person Shown field, click "apply template to selected"
