PM not reading Canon R5 mkII
« on: December 23, 2024, 06:31:51 AM »
Happy Christmas all....

Is anyone getting an issue where PM will not see the camera, in my case a Canon R5 mkII.

Any idea how to change this.  the PC is seeing it just fine and reading the disk but I would like to ingest directly as I have cRAW and JPG.

Thanks,

Unless you can put your camera in "disk mode" so that it shows up as a drive, you'll have to use a dedicated card reader to view/ingest images on your card.

Thanks Kirk.

Seems odd as my Fuji's all seem good.

How do I put this into disk mode do you know?

Cheers,

I found this documentation on Canon's website: https://cam.start.canon/en/C017/manual/html/UG-10_Reference_0020.html

It does not appear to support a disk mode from what I can tell.

You'll get best performance from a quality card reader.

Thanks again Kirk.

seems like I can read the disk fine in Windows but just PM won't see it.

Happy Christmas!

I've just tried uploading to PM via USB cable from my Canon R5 MkI with the same lack of success as the OP with the MkII. However if I use the cable with Canon Utility, it sees the card & all its files so I guess there's something in Canon's firmware stopping third party programs from reading the files.
Having said that, I wouldn't bother with a cable normally as I agree with Kirk that using a good card reader is the most reliable & expeditious way to go.
