Failed to open catalog
« on: January 13, 2025, 01:27:43 AM »
When I opened PM+ yesterday morning I saw no available catalogs at the top left in the 'Active Catalogs' panel. The Catalog Maintenance panel showed maintenance needed but all the options greyed out. See attached.

I restarted the Mac & all was back to normal but my catalogs & the collections are essential to several ongoing major projects so I'm somewhat concerned. I back up regularly but I think that restoring from the backups may not be straightforward. Does this indicate an underlying problem &, if so, is there anything I might do to protect my catalog?

Thanks
David Hoffman

Your screenshots indicate that at least one of your catalogs is stored on what I assume to be an external drive. It's possible the drive that stores the catalog was simply not mounted or was otherwise unavailable at the time that it tried to open the database.

Thanks, that puts my mind at rest.

It is on an external, it was showing as mounted & I'd accessed it at the time - but I have had a few 'disk not ejected properly' warnings lately. The disk has always been mounted when I look but these brief disconnections look like the explanation.

I'm having problems mounting more than 2 Thunderbolt drives with the 3rd one always running slow. I suspect that's connected & I can stop worrying about PM & keep harassing Apple support.
