I copied 250k images from an HDD to a new NVMe drive. Relocated in the Browse & did a full sync.

I still saw the old drive in Browse & the catalog now had 500k images. I selected the files on the old drive, hit delete & chose remove. They remained & I could see that PM+ was busy making previews & getting metadata so I left it overnight. It seemed Ok in the morning but the collection of 'removed' files remained, PM+ was still bus. Search is unresponsive. Collections won't open. I'm running up to deadline on a big project & without PM+ I'm in serious trouble.

I'm on an M2 Studio Max with plenty of memory & space on NVMe drives). I reduced the cache settings & updated the DNG converter external raw processor. Restarted but I'm out of ideas. Any thoughts?

Update:

I tried another restart but, if anything, it's slower. Tried a sync but that's only moved 1% in an hour.
I can drag a folder into a new window, that appears quickly & I can add an image to the catalog OK. But I need access to the existing files...

I seem to have left catalog debugging turned on since whenever the last problem appeared. I'll attach it.

Thanks for any suggestions!

More info
I have another test catalog & that's fine.
I can open a folder in a new window from Navigator, sort by different criteria & search.

It's only my main catalog that's unresponsive. I think this may be because it's busy doing something impossible. Quitting doesn't help, it just resumes ion restarting.

Might forgetting & reconnecting the catalog help? I'm a bit nervous but I'll try it if it's safe.

I recall a while back being advised to quit & delete the cat_state.sq3 file from the Library. It worked but I was later told that this was not a good idea so I'm even more nervous of trying this.

Meanwhile my main catalog is estimating 6.7 days.
