Using PM6 with external hubs
« on: January 19, 2025, 05:00:59 AM »
Hi All looking for help.

Using PM 6 Plus Build 7212on iMac MacBook Air and on a 27" iMac. When I connect an external drive (2 Tb) using adapter and try to use the drive to edit images it will not recognise any files, just comes up with a blank.

I can use the MacBook Air to open the external drive ok and it comes up with a variety of Sub Directories and images ok.

Is there a bug with PM6 or could it be my connectors. With the latter I have tried to different Hubs one with 4 ports and the other with USB and USB C .

Using Mac sequoia 15.2 and 8Gb Ram

Any help would be appreciated.

Last query, Is there a new edition now of PM?

What specifically comes up blank? Does the contact sheet show file names but not thumbnails? Nothing at all? Screenshots and specific descriptions of what you are clicking on in Photo Mechanic will be immensely helpful.

If the issue is simply that you cannot see the directories on your external drives via Photo Mechanic's Navigator, you should enable Full Disk Access: https://docs.camerabits.com/support/solutions/articles/48001152686-unable-to-ingest-or-access-folders-in-navigator (This document is slightly out of date, as Apple has redesigned System Preferences in newer versions of MacOS, but its basically the same steps.
