Migrate PM Windows 10 -> Windows 11
« on: February 11, 2025, 09:01:14 AM »
Question: What is the preferred procedure to migrate Photo Mechanic 2025.1 - including all customizations - to a new Windows 11 Pro build?   Does Edit | Preferences | Export & then Import cover absolutely everything?

Background:
With Windows 10 EOL coming soon, I'm retiring my Windows 10 machines and creating a from-scratch Windows 11 build for new hardware.  How may I ensure that my existing PM functionality and user experience is preserved on Windows 11?

Technical Details:
Photo Mechanic 2025.1 build 7955 (966971f)
Source OS: Windows 10 Pro build 10.0.19045
Target OS:  Windows 11 Pro build 24H2 (OS build 26100)
Source Laptop: Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon Gen6
Target Laptop: Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon Gen12

Thank you!

Robert,

For the Standard edition, yes.  For the Plus edition, no.  For Plus, there are some catalog-related files that can be copied over to the new system that can eliminate some headaches.

I've added a feature request to our tracking system for a migration guide to be written.
