Losing another long-time user
« on: March 20, 2025, 02:06:38 PM »
I wanted to reply to another post, but it seems it is locked.  I've been using PM for at least 20 years (or whenever it first launched) and have always used it as a first step in my workflow. Nothing matches it for that first step, but I only use it for that one step. Unfortunately with the new subscription pricing model, I will be moving on whenever the latest stand-alone stops working. I upgraded to the plus version hoping it would be a good option for cataloging, but I found it clunky at best.  So I only use it for that culling phase and $150 a year is just too much for that single purpose when I own many other pieces of software that can do the step. I'm really bummed and disappointed, but the price for a "one-trick-pony" is just too much.  I hope you consider a "lite" version for about half that price that I could use for culling, but I'm not holding my breath.

Add me to the list. The subscription pricing is stupid. Maybe (MAYBE) at $5/month, not $13.

There's simply not enough value, and with photography jobs prices racing to the bottom (or being awarded to the usual ones) I struggle to see a future where Photo Mechanic keeps existing given that their competitors offer more and more.

Its miopic CEO fails to see that pricing PM as a gourmet dish when all the people search in it is the equivalent of comfort food.
When PM will stop working on my Mac, it will be it.

Goodbye

Photo Mechanic 6 - 7269 has a new upgrade option for existing customers. When you launch the new build, a dialog will open stating this is the final build for version 6. There are 3 buttons to See What’s New, See Upgrade Options and Open a Support Ticket if you have other questions for the Support Team.

There are upgrade options for yearly subscriptions and perpetual licenses. The discounts range from $200 down to $50, depending on the upgrade option. There will be a store discount code you can use to receive the new upgrade price. We have seen many people take advantage of these discounts since we posted build 7269.  I hope this helps.

Best regards,,

—Bob

a lot of customers told (and still tell) you that those prices are ridiculously high. In a late move, you offer some discounts to current users, but not for everyone. of course that you'll still got your bulk licensers, but from what we can see from outside, people stop using PM not the other way around.
I suppose that those who payed a perpetual license 8-10 months ago, are very happy with your decision of not developing ver 6 anymore.
