Every time when using PM version 6, build 7269, on Windows 11 home, when i switch to any other program, and back again,  the PM interface is frozen.   Clicking anything a couple times will come up with "Not Responding" on the very top of the program title bar (beside the icon and words Photo Mechanic).

Happens on every instance, doesnt seem to be related to any other load on the system, or any specific app.

Any ideas how to stop this?

Hi Jeff,

The first thing to check is the Rescan on resume option on the Contact Sheet preference page. Unchecking this box will stop PM from rescanning your contact sheet each time you switch back from another application.

If you change the default sort method back to the default Filename option, then that will decrease the time to initially scan any new folder or rescan the current contact sheet. You can switch back to your favorite sort method once the thumbnails are drawn.  If you need to rescan the contact sheet to show new files added by other applications, then use the Rescan option from the View menu or the / shortcut key.

Thanks for the suggestion Bob.
Rescan on resume is/was checked.
Both default sort order in preferences and on the currently open contact sheet is by Filename.

I was aware that if the currently open contact sheet was from the NAS that this might be an issue, however even when the contact sheet points to my internal D drive, it still freezes.

Anything else that could be checked?

thanks for the assistance.
Jeff

Jeff,

Thanks for the suggestion Bob.
Rescan on resume is/was checked.

Did you uncheck it?  If not, please do so and see if that improves things.

Thanks Kirk and Bob.
I misinterpreted the original comment.  Unchecking it has done the trick it seems.

Much appreciation for your inputs!
