This is probably easy, but after moving my large photos folder (and sub-folders) from internal storage to an external RAID, the new and proper path is displayed and photos are "online", but I can't seem to remove the old and no longer valid Folder Path.

The (would appear to be obvious) act of "Remove Folder" from the Catalog , Browse, Folder Path appears to do nothing. This is using Photo Mechanic Plus Version 6.0, build 7269 (b13242a) on an older Intel Mac. I did similar thing to newer Apple Silicon Mac moving from internal storage to external SSD with no issues.

Ideas?

thanks

Try going to the Catalog Management window and choosing "Reintegrate forgotten catalog" and then let that run to see if it corrects the problem.

Tried it,  but no cigar this time. Attaching screenshot, which reveals that catalog shows double the actual photos (counting them in the old and new locations). Also, for some reason I don't understand, when I open a contact sheet in the catalog in the OLD path...the photos are still show "online" (green dots) to the right of file name.

I MAY have to delete the catalog and reimport from new path only, but since the files are now on a RAID (spinning disks), that will be fairly time consuming).

thanks

Do the files still exist in both places?  How did you move them?  With the OS, or with Photo Mechanic?

No, the files do not exist on the internal drive in this computer. The files HAD existed on internal drive of the other (referenced in initial post) computer (Apple Silicon Studio). So I copied the files from Studio internal storage to external SSD, then from that to external RAID attached to older Intel Mac mini. The Mac mini actually does not have sufficient space to store the files. The files were all copied / moved etc with the macOS.

Seems pretty weird.

thanks

How did the catalog get created on the Mac Mini?  Was it copied from the Apple Silicon Studio system?

Yes, exactly...except originally created on the "mini" a couple years ago (before the "new" Universal app). When I purchased / installed the new app on the Studio, I opened the original catalog, did a sync with the files in the internal (2TB) storage, then worked it for a few months. I was copying the files to the RAID for backup when the RAID was attached to the Studio.

I decided to use the files on an SSD as needed on the Studio, and connected the RAID to the Mini, and then copied the catalog over to the Mini's internal (500gb) storage. Then I did the re-map to the RAID. I may have conflated one of these steps as I don't remember the exact order I did this in.

It's not the end of the world if I simply need to delete the catalog, create a new one and re-import. I just thought maybe I was missing a critical step.

The other issue that I have is that even though I have theoretically removed all of the "structure" from the keywords via previously advised "Find and Replace | ) AND PM only shows flat keywords, other software continues to show both the flat and SOME structured keywords. Is it possible that there is a conflict between IPTC and XMP data? These files have been "managed by several other apps both before and after initially using PM6+. I have no issue with NEW files that were not previously in LRc etc.

Does PM address BOTH IPTC and XMP? I am happy to do my "homework", but this gets substantially over my head.

thanks

At this point it is hard for me to tell what's going on.  Is the catalog on the Mini a copy of the current catalog from the Studio, or is it the original catalog that the Mini created?  If you want further troubleshooting help, I suggest contacting our support folks at:

Yes, as long as it can be updated.  I'd be happy to investigate a file that is causing you trouble, if you'd share one with me.  Use the 'Attachments and other options' link when you're composing your reply to this message and there you'll be able to upload your sample file(s).  Be sure to upload any matching XMP sidecar files, if any are present.

Thanks,
