I cannot get PM to renew previews.
On mac mini latest plus latest PM.
When I go into PS RAW and modify an image the preview in PM contact sheet is unchanged.
I have gone into preferences and (1) the inbuilt option is greyed out  -  Why?  (2) I have set the option to DNG yet nothing happens.
I have deleted all caches. I have quit Pm and reopened but still no change.

What kicks DNG into action?
How do I use inbuilt converter?

I only want a rough idea from the preview.

Many Thanks.

Because there is no built-in renderer.  I should have updated the UI to remove the option, but I didn't.  I'm sorry for the confusion.  The Universal Binary 2025.x version of Photo Mechanic does have a built-in renderer, but it won't look anything like what the image looks like in ACR since rendering ACR settings requires using Adobe technology (like the Adobe DNG Converter), so if what you're wanting is an accurate rendition of what it looks like in ACR, you would still want to use the Adobe DNG Converter option.

(2) I have set the option to DNG yet nothing happens.

Have you installed the Adobe DNG Converter and told PM where to find it?

What format are the RAW files that you're working with?  When you make adjustments with Adobe Camera RAW, are you saving the settings?  PM checks to see if the settings have changed since the last preview was generated.  If the ACR settings haven't changed, then the cached preview will continue to be used.

Hi Kirk
Yes I installed DNG and pointed PM at it.

When saving in RAW I just click done.  When I open that raw file again in PS it opens with the changed option eg I changed the profile from Colour to Sepia so it was a big change and easy to spot in PM except the preview in PM was still in color.

When I opened PM the preview was the OLD preview in color.

SO.
Can I force PM to check the previews.
If the cache has not been deleted will it still look for a change in the raw file.

I shoot with an underexposure so all the previews are too dark.....its the way i work. So it is a total pain when I process the iumages in PS and PM has NOT changed the previews. So its a TOTAL PAIN.

Thank you.

Can you share one of your adjusted files (along with XMP sidecar) file for my investigation?  Use the 'Attachments and other options' link when you're composing your reply to this message and there you'll be able to upload your files.

Thanks,

-Kirk

Thanks
I attach a test image and sidecar and 2 screenshots of preferences (in case I have made a mistake in settings).

Louis,

Thank you for the sample files.  To be clear, when I open the image in Photoshop (ACR plugin), I should see the image in Sepia tone?

I'm asking because you mentioned it earlier and I'm seeing normal RGB color in your sample image.
