Damaged/corrupted DNG files from Leica Q
« on: May 29, 2025, 10:26:06 PM »
Hi,

The past half year I have been having problems with DNG files from my Leica Q being damaged/currupted when opening in Lightroom. It happens sometimes, not everytime, and perhaps only to 1 out of 10, or more. It only happens with files from my Leica Q, and not files (DNG or other) from other cameras. I have tried different memory cards, card readers and even two different computers.

I import the photos with PM (latest version) and then synch the folder in Lightroom. I have been able to identify the issue can happen when I modify the metadata of the DNG file in PM, like updating keywords. I can provide a currupted file and a not corrupted file of the same image. Would you be able to see if there are any differences in the metadata? PM doesn't add xmp to DNG files, so I assume it embed it in the original DNG file.

Regarding hardware. I'm currently using a MacBook Pro M4 with the latest software updated. The camera is also running the latest firmware.

Please post samples and we'll investigate.  Use the 'Attachments and other options' link when you're composing your reply to this message and there you'll be able to upload your files.

Thanks,

-Kirk

Thanks. Here are two files and one is corrupted Neither Lightroom or Capture One will read it.

Hope you can find the issue with the file:-)
