PM/PM+ Summarily Close When Opening Contact Sheet

Have not been in PM and PM+ for a while. When opening this morning, all is normal until I try to open a contact sheet at which point the app simply closes without notice. Contact Sheet display presents with hollow image boxes then closes. I installed most recent updates presented to me with no change.

Does this happen with every folder of images that you attempt to open?  If not then I expect that one or more of the images in the specific folder that crashes PM is damaged.  If it happens with all folders that you attempt to open then you'll need to contact our support folks.

Well, as I was about to contact Support my dual-monitor setup came to mind. Just tested that to discover that the issue occurs when my UHD 2nd monitor is my "Main Monitor". If I make the laptop the main, the apps work just fine. The apps don't like being opened on the high res monitor. Using the UHD for the preview image is still fine, however.

Kirk, at the risk of jerking you around here, I have to take a step back on this issue after additional testing. The monitors have nothing to do with it.

My more recent folders all contain .XMP sidecars. I thought it was an issue on all folders because opening any of these more recent folders crashed the apps. However, in testing the monitor issue, I happened to open an earlier folder with no .XMPs. All was well. Again opening a more recent folder crashed the apps. Isolating files pointed to the .XMP files. I have now gone back to folders from years ago where .XMPs were present. Attempting to open a contact sheet for any folder containing .XMP files crashes the apps. Am I missing something on the handling of .XMPs - I don't remember this being a problem in the past.

XMP sidecar files require no special configuration, certainly none that would cause the app to crash or not to crash.  They're just plain text files.  If you want to post one of them, I'll have a look, but I still suggest that you contact support for troubleshooting help.  The forum is far too clumsy for troubleshooting.
