Cannot close Preview windows with Command+W

So are you saying that this will be addressed in the next update?

The comment about what's changing in the next update was more about the wording of the menu items to be clearer about what you are closing at a given moment.

It should work so that command W not only closes the preview window but also the contact sheet window, just as is standard for every other Mac program.

Without modifying any of the shortcuts, Command-W in build 8622 now works exactly like pretty much any application that features tabs. Let's say that I have several tabs open and then I open the Preview window. For me, the first time I press Command-W, the Preview window closes. Then each subsequent press of Command-W closes each tab and goes to the next open one. When you have one tab remaining, the behavior of Command-W is dependent on a setting. Some folks didn't like the window closing when the tab was closed, so in the Contact Sheet section of Settings there is a setting: "Close Contact Sheet window when last tab is closed". If you have this on, Command-W with one tab remaining will close the tab and the window. When it's off, Command-W will close the tab but keep the window open, and you'll need Command-Shift-W to close the window.

Now, during testing all this just now I did notice an issue where you can't actually change closing tabs/windows from Command-W to something else, so we'll have to look into that, but just to clarify, are you stating that you want Command-W to close the window even if several tabs are currently opened? Because it hasn't worked like that for over a decade, and that is certainly not the standard behavior of tabbed applications. Otherwise, the behavior with the most recent build seems to be right in line with other tabbed applications like Safari, Firefox, or Finder, so if you're not seeing that, please give us a call and you can demonstrate what you're seeing via a screenshare with me. Maybe I missed something, but I have been using Photo Mechanic for almost 20 years (bought the first version in 2006), and command W has always closed whatever is open.  If it's a preview, it closed that.  If there is no preview open, it closed the current open tabbed contact sheet.  So if I have opened 20 tabbed contact sheets, and I want to close them I just kept hitting Command W.

Also, this is pretty standard behavior on other apps that have tabs (for example, Firefox or Google Chrome).  If you open a bunch of tabs and hit command W, they close, one by one.

So this is new, and like most things that break a workflow that I have gotten used to, it's annoying.  Of course, I can close a tabbed contact sheet by learning a different command, but that's not ideal, and not the way that the Mac OS X works in other apps, at least in my experience.

Maybe we are using different terms?  When you say that command W closes the tab, I don't see it closing the tabbed contact sheets here.  What tab are you saying that it closes?
