PhotoMechanic 6: File Error Contact Sheet Rescan Needed
« on: June 18, 2025, 03:09:02 AM »
I have a contact sheet open o fa folder X. When I move that folder to another folder, the open contact sheet shows the error below, as PhotoMechanic does not seem to update the location of a moved folder when this folder is open in a contact sheet. Rather than re-scan the folder as suggested, I need to close the contact sheet and open the moved folder in a new contact sheet. While this is not a big issue, it is somewhat annoying (and I don't know if this has been "fixed" in PhotoMechanic 2025.X). Having this fixed, would add to the list of plusses to upgrade ;-)

Claude,

When I move that folder to another folder, the open contact sheet shows the error below

By what method are you moving the folder?  From within Photo Mechanic?  If so, how?
Outside Photo Mechanic?  With what application?

Kirk,

I am moving the folder by drag-and-drop within the 'Favorites' part of PhotoMechanic (as shown in the screenshot).

My use case is edit and caption the photos in a folder, e.g. ,'250529_spo_tennis_roland-garros_li-peguila', transmit the edited photos via the ftp command from PhotoMechanic to my photo database, and then move the folder into, e.g., the 'Edited' folder. If something I goes wrong, I go back to the still open but moved contact sheet. It is then that I get the shown error message.

Hope this helps.
