I just downloaded a trial of the Photo Mechanic Plus version 2025.6, build 8622 (I currently own version 6), and I noticed that if I show 2 images side-by-side in the preview, CPU usage spikes on my 2024 M4 MacBook Pro (16GB RAM). Activity Monitors shows CPU usage of Photo Mechanic at 800% (!?!).  When I switch back to showing a single image, CPU usage returns to normal.

Just thought I would mention it.  Happy to provide other info if needed.

Rob,

How many photos are in the Contact Sheet?  Are you moving through the images or just viewing the same two images for a period of time?

There are 1400 images in the contact sheet.  The high CPU usage happens after I have been moving through images.

And if you stop moving, the CPU usage never decreases?

The longest I stopped moving was 2 or 3 minutes, and in that time the CPU usage remained high.  Going to single image view brought CPU usage down within 30 seconds.

OK, one last question: were you viewing images side-by-side, or with one image at the top and one on the bottom?

We'll investigate and if we can reproduce the problem, we'll fix it.

That said, PM does a lot of pre-caching to keep responsiveness high and it will work on several images in the direction that you're moving through images.
