display only CR3 files
« on: June 27, 2025, 09:51:07 PM »
Hi, isn't it possible to only display raw files like CR3 when opening a new PM window and select a folder with images?

Do you mean that you want to only see CR3 files and filter out any other files that may exist in the folder that you open in PM?

PM does not offer the ability to hide all but one type of image file.

yes, let me clarify. When I take photos I do both raw and jpg, and before I start ingesting I open a new window in PM, browse through the photos and tagg the one I want to keep of the raw files, then I select them to ingest. If I see both jpg files and raw files I might select a jpg file to import by mistake. Thats why I wondered if there is a way to filter out them. I guess I could just shoot in raw only and then I dont have to bother about this.

While PM doesn't keep you from editing on your card, we don't recommend doing that.  Setting a tag on your photos modifies the photos (or adds an XMP sidecar file, depending on your preferences). Since this is your only copy of the images until they're copied to your computer, this is rather dangerous and is not recommended.

You can set Ingest to ingest only the RAW files and then cull from there.  Or since most modern cameras produce a reasonable preview in their RAW files, shoot RAW only (as you suggested).

Hi, I get that. But I try to avoid importing more files than I need.

You could sort by {type} (create a Custom Sort) with your images unjoined.  The JPEGs and CR3s will separate.  You can then select what you want and use Ingest from Selection.  It will only copy what you've selected.

HTH,
