Keyboard short does not work
« on: July 09, 2025, 08:48:09 AM »
I am using the latest PM Plus on a laptop win10, and desktop Win11. The keyboard shortcuts for selecting color class 1-9 all work but control-shift-zero does not select the files with no color class. I have been selecting them with the drop down menu for deletion but would prefer the shortcut. Any hope? ;)

Sounds like something on your system is intercepting that keystroke.  Customizable keyboard shortcuts will be coming to the Windows version of Photo Mechanic 2025 soon and then you'll be able to record a keystroke that works for you.

You may be correct but I have a hard time with the idea that it occurs on both laptop on Win 10 and desktop on Win 11.  :-\

What would you research if it were your problem?

Edit: It is a known bug on Win 10&11, Thanks for your time.

The problem is most likely the fact that Ctrl+shift can be tied to Windows input switching. I'm not really sure if this is a bug as much as it is just a feature of Windows that also uses this shortcut combination.

Go to the Settings App
Go to Time & Language
Choose 'Language and region'
Choose 'Typing'
Choose "Advanced keyboard settings"
Choose 'Input language hot keys'
Choose the 'Advanced Key Settings' tab

If any of your key sequences involve "Ctrl+Shift", change it. Doing so allowed Ctrl-Shift-0 to select all un-color labeled images in Photo Mechanic for me.

Thanks, that works on Win 11 which is my main photo processing machine.  :D

The laptop with Win 10 does not respond to the cure and I notice the shortcut is removed from the Edit-Color Class drop down menu. So probably is defunct. Not important to me, just an FYI.

Are you sure you are on an up-to-date build of Photo Mechanic 6? The shortcut was not added on Windows until build 6645

Attached are jpg screen shots of the PM Plus version running on my Win 10 lap top,
and the drop down under edit- color class showing no short cut key for color class none.
I have changed the keyboard settings the same as on my Win 11 desktop and the ctrl-shift-zero does nothing.
FYI, I used the same PM Plus set up file to install on both machines. The drop down for editing color class on Win 11 shows ctrl-shift-zero.
That's all I know. :-\
