Contact sheet image info not updating with cursor or mouse wheel

I've got a two-parter.

(Win 11 2025.6, build 8622)

Part one:
On the contact sheet, the image info stays wherever my mouse pointer is.  If I move through the contact sheet with keyboard arrows (which I prefer), I must set up the size of the sheet such that the next picture is always under the mouse cursor.  Is there a way for the image info to update with the selection (that is moving with arrows)?

Issue: Selection has changed position, image info didn't move


Part two:
If move through my pictures in a single column with the mouse wheel, the contact sheet scrolls but the image info stays on whatever picture the cursor rolled over.  Is there a setting or something I can tweak to make this work as I hoped?

Issue:  Images changed, selection position is the same, image info didn't update.

I tested it out and I see the same behavior that you've described. There's no way to change this behavior via a setting in the current builds, although we can look into modifying it in the future.

My only suggestion for the moment would be to put the info that you want to see in the label fields rather than using the tool tips (looks like you already have it displaying the folder), but if you truly need to see everything that you have in the tool tips that would certainly get a bit cluttered.

Thanks for testing it.  In an ideal world, the info would be as close to the image (and updated per image of course) as possible and in the contact sheet.  I think I'm missing something regarding label fields;  I honestly have no idea how to display label fields. 

If it's something that I can put on/over/near with the contact sheet while I'm willing to give it a go.

In the Contact Sheet section of Photo Mechanic's Settings window, you likely have "Labels" set to "Filename + one label" and the Label 1 field set to {folder}

You can put whichever variables you want into these label fields so that they display the data for their image below the filename. I like to use the pipe character ( | ) to separate the bits of data, so if I wanted to see the shutter speed, aperture, and ISO below my images, I'd have {f} | {shutter} | {iso} in the label field.

Oh yea, that's works nicely.  Is there any way to get a bigger font?  It's more of a "would be something I would change" instead of "this does not work".

Not currently possible, no.
